The Gary Media Center
The City of Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana, 2000 (unbuilt)

The Gary Media Center is the centerpiece of a major revitalization effort being carried out by the City of Gary, Indiana. The mix-use project builds on the city’s forth-coming fiber optic network and establishes the city’s commitment to expanding its economic base beyond its historic industrial uses. The mixed-use facility will be located in the heart of downtown and will contain a new home for WYIN TV56, Gary’s Public Television, a multiplex cinema, shops, restaurants, and the Community Media Technology Center (CMTC).

The CMTC will provide educational and vocational training opportunities in the fields of media production and information technology. Several area universities and vocational training institutions are participating in the planning and development of this state of the art facility.

Muller Architects collaborated with Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates to develop the design as well as preliminary economic modeling and implementation planning.
