Peace Museum
Mark Rogovin & Marjorie Benton
Chicago, Illinois, 1981
The Peace Museum is perhaps the only museum in the world dedicated to the expression of non-violence through art. With education, exhibitions, and community involvement, the museum presents work that seeks local, notional, and international solutions through non-violence.
The project began with a 10,000 square foot conversion of an industrial space into a multi-media exhibition space. On display are musical memorabilia from folk, pop, and rock music, along with work by Kathy Kalowitz, photos by Sydney Harris, prints by Chicago artist Carlos Cortez, and drawings from survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. |
